GACA's May 2024 Report Ranks Saudi Airports High On Performance

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has released its May report detailing the performance of domestic and international airports in Saudi Arabia. The assessment is based on 11 operational performance standards, aimed at enhancing services and ensuring a seamless traveller experience across the Kingdom's airports.

King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh secured the top position among airports with over 15 million passengers annually, achieving an 82% compliance rate. King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah followed closely with a 73% compliance rate.

Saudi Airports Lead in May 2024 Report

In the category of international airports serving between 5 to 15 million passengers annually, King Fahd International Airport and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport both achieved a 91% compliance rate. However, King Fahd International Airport outperformed its competitor in achieving standards percentage.

For airports handling between 2 to 5 million passengers annually, Abha International Airport and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jizan both demonstrated a 100% compliance rate. Abha International Airport surpassed King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport by exceeding higher targets in the specified evaluation criteria.

In the category of airports with less than 2 million passengers annually, Qaisumah International Airport achieved a 100% compliance rate, outperforming its competitors regarding average waiting time for departing and arriving flights.

Domestic Airport Category

Arar Airport led the domestic airport category with a 100% compliance rate. It outperformed all competing airports concerning average waiting time for departing and arriving flights.

Evaluation Criteria

GACA evaluates airport performance through operational performance standards focused on critical passenger touchpoints. These include check-in, security, passport control, customs, baggage claim, and assistance for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM). These metrics ensure a seamless and efficient travel experience for all passengers and are aligned with international best practices.

The report highlights GACA's commitment to maintaining high standards across Saudi Arabia's airports, ensuring that travellers receive consistent and efficient service.
