Saudi Arabia To Ramp Up Rose Production To Two Billion By 2026
In a significant stride towards agricultural advancement, the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, known as "Reef Saudi," has reported a remarkable surge in rose production within the Kingdom. Last year, the production figures reached an impressive 960 million roses, marking a 34% increase from the 500 million roses produced in 2020. This achievement is part of a broader ambition by "Reef Saudi" to escalate rose production to two billion by the year 2026.
Underpinning this ambitious growth are several strategic projects and initiatives spearheaded by "Reef Saudi." Among these are the establishment of cities dedicated to roses and aromatic plants in the Jazan region, alongside nurseries in both Jazan and Taif regions. Furthermore, the construction of a distillation factory in Abu Arish city stands as a testament to the program's commitment to enhancing the sector's infrastructure. Additionally, "Reef Saudi" has facilitated the provision of four mobile clinics aimed at diagnosing diseases affecting roses, medicinal, and aromatic plants. The support extends to supplying greenhouses and setting up irrigation systems for these specialized cities, as well as establishing a tissue culture laboratory in Riyadh to ensure the cultivation of high-quality roses.

The overarching goal of these initiatives is not only to boost rose production but also to enhance people's lifestyle, improve food security, and ensure economic viability for the sector. "Reef Saudi's" efforts reflect a comprehensive approach to rural development, emphasizing sustainability and innovation in agricultural practices.
As "Reef Saudi" continues to lend its support to the rose sector among others, it underscores the importance of strategic investment and development in agriculture. This approach not only aims at achieving significant milestones in rose production but also at fostering a sustainable and economically feasible agricultural sector that contributes positively to the Kingdom's economy and its people's well-being.
