Saudi Arabia Announces Over $14.9 Billion In AI Investments At LEAP 2025 Conference

LEAP 2025 commenced in Riyadh, gathering global tech leaders to bolster Saudi Arabia's role as a digital transformation hub. On the first day, over $14.9 billion in AI investments were announced, enhancing the Kingdom's influence in shaping the digital future. These investments aim to develop digital skills, support tech startups, and boost innovation, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's status as the largest digital economy in the MENA region.

The conference began under the theme "Into New Worlds," with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha delivering a keynote address. He highlighted that these initiatives are supported by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The goal is to enable the technology sector and accelerate Saudi Arabia’s shift towards an innovative AI-driven economy, aligning with Vision 2030 objectives.

Saudi Arabia's Major AI Investments at LEAP 2025

Groq & Aramco Digital revealed a $1.5 billion investment to expand AI-powered cloud computing, aiming to position Saudi Arabia as a leader in artificial intelligence. Alat & Lenovo confirmed a $2 billion investment for an advanced AI and robotics-based manufacturing center and Lenovo's regional headquarters in Riyadh. Google plans to establish an AI infrastructure hub in Saudi Arabia to meet regional and international demand.

Qualcomm introduced the ALLaM language model on its AI Cloud, launching the ALLaM AI PC to provide cloud-based AI solutions for developers. Alibaba Cloud launched an AI empowerment program with Tuwaiq Academy and STC to train local talent in advanced technologies, contributing to a sustainable digital future.

Databricks committed $300 million for Platform-as-a-Service solutions, supporting app developers and fostering data engineering expertise. SambaNova pledged $140 million for advanced AI infrastructure development, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s role as a regional innovation hub. KKR & Gulf Data Hub announced significant investments in data center development with up to 300 megawatts capacity.

Salesforce committed $500 million to expand its Hyperforce platform from Saudi Arabia, serving regional customers. Tencent Cloud pledged $150 million for its first Middle East cloud region launch from Saudi Arabia with integrated AI capabilities.
