Saudi Arabia Dedicates Resources To Combat Global Food Security Challenges And Support Affected Communities
Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, an advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to tackling global food security issues. He stressed the importance of flexible planning and optimal resource use to facilitate humanitarian interventions. These efforts aim to save lives, bolster community resilience, and restore hope amid ongoing food crises and supply chain disruptions.
To address these challenges, Saudi Arabia has partnered with international and local organisations. The Kingdom has launched several initiatives to improve global food security. Dr. Al Rabeeah stated that these efforts also aim to enhance Saudi Arabia's humanitarian contributions in global food production. They direct national food products toward relief operations, showcasing the Kingdom’s dedication to humanitarian work and promoting its national industries.

Among the initiatives is the distribution of dates donated by Saudi Arabia through KSrelief to countries facing food insecurity. So far, KSrelief has delivered 25,000 tons of dates to 73 countries under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' gift program. Additionally, 40,000 tons have been sent to 24 countries in collaboration with the World Food Programme.
Preparations are underway for delivering 13,500 tons of dates to 65 countries in 2025. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to support global food security and provide relief to nations in need.
Dr. Al Rabeeah also reported that KSrelief has distributed 14 million food baskets, benefiting 77.5 million individuals across 20 countries. Of these baskets, 12 million were sourced within Saudi Arabia and sent abroad, reinforcing the global value of Saudi agricultural products.
"These efforts also aim to strengthen Saudi Arabia's humanitarian contributions in global food production and direct national food products toward relief operations—reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to humanitarian work and to promoting its national industries," he said.
The Kingdom's initiatives demonstrate a strong commitment to addressing global food security challenges through strategic partnerships and resource optimisation. By focusing on effective humanitarian interventions, Saudi Arabia aims to create a more stable future for communities affected by food crises worldwide.
