Saudi Arabia Celebrates 95th National Day By Highlighting Vision 2030 Achievements And Progress
Saudi Arabia, celebrating its 95th National Day, reflects on its progress under Vision 2030. This ambitious plan aims to create a vibrant society and a thriving economy. The Kingdom's strategic location and resources have driven significant advancements. According to the Saudi Vision 2030 annual report for 2024, many indicators have met or surpassed their interim targets.
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) has seen its assets more than double. Additionally, the percentage of major companies offering social responsibility programs has increased significantly. The report highlights that 85% of initiatives are on track, with 674 completed and 596 ongoing out of 1,502 active initiatives.

In terms of national program indicators, 93% have met or exceeded their interim targets for 2024. This includes 257 indicators surpassing their annual target and eight achieving goals six years early. Over 100 million tourists visited Saudi Arabia, while eight sites were added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Volunteer numbers have exceeded expectations, reaching over 1.2 million, surpassing the target of one million by 2030. Female labour force participation hit 33.5%, exceeding the goal of 30%. The Kingdom has also improved in global rankings, rising to seventh in the E-Participation Index and sixth in the UN E-Government Development Index.
The Saudi economy has diversified remarkably, with non-oil activities now making up 56% of GDP, which exceeded SAR4.5 trillion. This shift positions Saudi Arabia as a global hub for diverse economic activities; it now hosts regional headquarters for over 660 international companies.
The private sector's contribution to GDP reached 47%, surpassing its target for 2024. The number of workers in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) rose to 7.86 million, exceeding expectations for the year.
Education and Health Advancements
Four Saudi universities are now among the world's top 500, with King Saud University ranked at an impressive 90th place globally. In healthcare, coverage reached nearly all population centres at 96.4%, nearing the target of 99.5% by 2030.
The Seha Virtual Hospital entered the Guinness World Records as the largest virtual hospital globally. Moreover, seven Saudi hospitals are among the world’s top 250, showcasing significant advancements in medical technology and services.
Tourism and Cultural Impact
International tourism revenues surged by an impressive 148% compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Visitor attendance at entertainment events reached nearly 77 million people. The Kingdom led G20 nations in international tourist arrival growth during this period.
Total spending by international visitors reached approximately SAR49.4 billion during Q1 of 2025, contributing to a travel surplus of SAR26.8 billion—a year-on-year increase of nearly 12%. According to a United Nations World Tourism Organization report from May 2025, Saudi Arabia ranked first globally for growth in international tourist receipts during Q1 compared to pre-pandemic levels.
Technological Leadership
The Kingdom achieved top global rankings across several key sectors in technology innovation. It ranked first worldwide in nanotechnology and transportation technologies and secured first place in living healthcare technologies.
Saudi Arabia also placed second globally in financial technologies and insurance investment technologies while ranking third in digital payments and fifth in electronic games development.
Sustainable Initiatives
The Kingdom planted over 115 million trees by late-2024 as part of its sustainable vision efforts. The agricultural sector contributed SAR114 billion to GDP while rehabilitating more than 118 thousand hectares of degraded land.
This initiative also included resettling over seven thousand endangered animals back into their natural habitats—demonstrating commitment towards environmental sustainability within Vision2030 goals framework.
