Saudi-Albanian Forum Paves Way For New Business Council To Enhance Trade

In a significant move to bolster economic ties, the Saudi-Albanian Business Forum convened in Tirana, the capital of Albania, on March 2, 2024. This gathering saw the participation of over 250 dignitaries, including officials, investors, and representatives from both governmental and private sectors of Saudi Arabia and Albania.

The highlight of the forum was the signing of an agreement between the Federation of Saudi Chambers and the Union of Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Albania (UCCIAL). This agreement marks the establishment of the Joint Saudi-Albanian Business Council, a step forward in creating a robust economic partnership between the two nations.

Hassan Alhwaizy, Chairman of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, underscored the importance of this new council. He pointed out that while there are existing agreements aimed at enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Albania, trade exchange has remained limited. Alhwaizy advocated for a detailed analysis to identify and address the reasons behind this underperformance.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mufarreh, Chairman of the Saudi-Albanian Business Council, highlighted Albania's potential as a fertile ground for Saudi investments. He emphasized the opportunities available through partnerships with Albanian entities.

The forum was graced by notable attendees including Faisal bin Ghazi Hefzy, the Saudi Ambassador to Albania. From the Albanian side, key figures such as the Minister of Finances and Economy, the Minister of State for Entrepreneurs, and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development were present.

This initiative is seen as a pivotal step towards strengthening trade and investment ties between Saudi Arabia and Albania. It underscores a mutual interest in exploring economic opportunities and enhancing bilateral relations for future prosperity.
