Saudi Agricultural Exhibition Opens With Over SAR 800 Million In Investments For Sustainable Agriculture

The 41st Saudi Agricultural Exhibition commenced on October 21 at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center. Eng. Abdulrahman Alfadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, inaugurated the event. This exhibition showcases investment opportunities and advanced technologies in agriculture. It features participation from over 420 companies across 29 countries, including the presence of Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Subaie, Qatari Minister of Municipality.

Alfadley stressed the importance of aligning national economic priorities with food security goals in Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the need to balance agricultural development with natural resource preservation. This approach is crucial for enhancing sustainability and protecting environmental and agricultural assets for future generations.

Saudi Agricultural Exhibition Highlights Major Investments

Over the past three years, Saudi Arabia's agricultural sector has seen significant economic growth. Alfadley attributed this success to strong leadership support and ministry efforts promoting sustainable practices. These initiatives have ensured sustainable production, soil and water conservation, and self-sufficiency in various products.

The sector's contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) reached SAR109 billion, marking its highest-ever level. This achievement supports sustainable development and strengthens the national economy. The focus on sustainability aligns with broader national goals under Vision 2030.

During the exhibition, Alfadley witnessed the signing of 12 agreements and memoranda of understanding. These agreements involve investments exceeding SAR800 million aimed at boosting agricultural production in Saudi Arabia. Such collaborations are expected to drive further growth in the sector.

A notable initiative launched at the event was the KAUST Center of Excellence for Sustainable Food Security. This center aims to enhance food security through sustainable innovations in agriculture, aligning with Vision 2030 objectives.

The exhibition serves as a platform for showcasing technological advancements and solutions that can transform agriculture in Saudi Arabia. By fostering international collaboration and investment, it contributes to achieving long-term sustainability goals while supporting economic growth.
