Sanad Reinforces Aerospace Leadership With Asiana Airlines In AED 532 Million Deal
Sanad, a leading global aerospace engineering and leasing solutions provider, owned by Abu Dhabi's sovereign investor Mubadala Investment Company PJSC, has recently announced a significant contract extension with Asiana Airlines, South Korea's second-largest carrier. The five-year extension, valued at USD 145 million (AED532 million), underscores Sanad's commitment to delivering superior Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services for V2500 engines. This development was shared at the MRO Americas event in Chicago, a premier gathering for aerospace industry professionals.
The extended partnership sees Sanad continuing to service Asiana Airlines' V2500 engine fleet from its advanced facilities in Abu Dhabi. Asiana Airlines boasts a fleet of over 80 aircraft, offering a wide range of domestic and international passenger and cargo services to more than 80 destinations worldwide. The collaboration, which began in 2018, cements Sanad's role as the exclusive MRO provider for Asiana Airlines in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The V2500 engine, a product of International Aero Engines, has been a mainstay in the aviation industry since 1989. It powers a vast number of Airbus A320 and A321ceo aircraft across the globe. Known for its reliability, efficiency, and performance, the engine is used by approximately 150 operators in 80 countries.
Mansoor Janahi, Managing Director and Group CEO of Sanad, highlighted the company's unique position as the sole V2500 full overhaul MRO center in the Middle East. Janahi emphasized Sanad's extensive expertise in the aviation MRO sector, with over 250 inductions in the past five years alone. "This collaboration reaffirms our unwavering commitment to excellence within the aerospace industry," Janahi stated, adding that it positions Abu Dhabi as an innovative hub for aviation solutions.
Baha Salama, General Manager of MRO at Sanad, expressed enthusiasm about the renewed partnership with Asiana Airlines. Salama noted that this collaboration aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision of supporting the global aviation sector with top-tier talent, technology, and expertise. "We are excited to continue our collaboration with Asiana Airlines and contribute to their sustained operational success," Salama said.
Hoon Bae, Principal General Manager Purchasing of Asiana Airlines, shared his confidence in selecting Sanad as their V2500 MRO service provider for another five years. Bae emphasized the airline's commitment to offering the best customer service with Sanad’s strong support.
