SAMI Achieves Three Excellence Awards For Contributions To Defence Localization In Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), a key player in national defense and security, recently received three Excellence Awards from the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI). These awards highlight SAMI's significant role in enhancing defense localization and boosting national capabilities. The recognition took place at the Annual Military Industries Sector Gathering in Riyadh, attended by senior officials, industry leaders, and investors from Saudi Arabia and beyond.

The awards celebrated the achievements of three SAMI subsidiaries: SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries, SAMI Advanced Electronics Company (SAMI-AEC), and SAMI Aerospace Mechanics. These subsidiaries were acknowledged for their contributions to creating a sustainable and competitive defense ecosystem. GAMI's Excellence in Defense Localization Awards aim to honor organizations excelling in localizing defense industries, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.

SAMI Wins Three Defence Localization Awards

SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries was awarded under the Service Providers category for its efforts in advancing national aviation capabilities. This includes enhancing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capacities within Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, SAMI-AEC was recognized in the Manufacturing Companies category for its role in developing an advanced national defense industry.

SAMI Aerospace Mechanics received recognition in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) category. This award acknowledges its support for localization and development of national industries led by skilled Saudi talent. These achievements collectively emphasize the impact of SAMI’s subsidiaries on building a self-sustaining defense ecosystem.

The awards underscore SAMI’s crucial role in supporting GAMI's mission to achieve Vision 2030 objectives. A key goal is to localize over 50% of military spending. The event also saw Eng. Thamer Al Muhid, CEO of SAMI, announce the upcoming launch of SAMILocal Content Program. Scheduled for February 2026 during the World Defense Show, this initiative aims to further drive localization ambitions.

The SAMILocal Content Program will be launched within the Supply Chain Zone. It seeks to strengthen the defense supply chain while advancing Saudi Arabia’s industrial and technological capabilities in line with Vision 2030 goals.

Strategic Collaboration Platform

The Annual Military Industries Sector Gathering serves as a strategic platform that unites government entities, defense companies, and investors. It fosters collaboration and alignment across the sector to enhance collective efforts towards achieving national objectives.

These recognitions highlight SAMI's commitment to empowering Saudi talent and accelerating technology transfer. They also emphasize industrial localization efforts that contribute significantly to building a robust defense ecosystem within the Kingdom.
