SAMI Strengthens Local Manufacturing Of Land Systems In Saudi Arabia Through New Agreements

Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) has entered into agreements with three prominent Turkish defense firms. These agreements aim to enhance the local production of land systems in Saudi Arabia. The signing took place in the presence of Dr. Khalid bin Hussein Al-Biyari, Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs, Eng. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), and Prof. Haluk Görgün, President of the Turkish Defense Industries Agency.

The first agreement involves Nurol Makina and focuses on transferring technology and manufacturing military vehicles locally. The second agreement with FNSS Defense Systems is aimed at producing armored combat vehicles and weapon turrets within the Kingdom. Lastly, ASELSAN will contribute to localizing turret systems manufacturing through technology transfer.

SAMI Boosts Local Defence Manufacturing Efforts

SAMI's Executive Vice President of Land Systems, Eng. Mohammed bin Saud Alhodaib, signed these agreements to boost local industry capabilities. The SAMI Land Industrial Complex will host these operations, which are set to commence in the fourth quarter of this year. This facility is designed to adhere to global standards for land systems manufacturing.

The complex will produce 4x4, 6x6, and 8x8 armored vehicles and armed turrets. It will integrate Industry 4.0 technologies like artificial intelligence, the internet of things, and robotics for advanced unmanned operations managed by intelligent systems.

SAMI's Land Systems Division is committed to achieving strategic goals by enhancing defense industry localization in Saudi Arabia. This involves developing advanced industrial capabilities and delivering high-quality products that meet end-user needs throughout their lifecycle.

The agreements signify a significant step towards self-reliance in defense manufacturing for Saudi Arabia. By leveraging technology transfer from leading Turkish companies, SAMI aims to establish a robust local defense industry infrastructure.

The new facility will serve as a center of excellence for land systems production, ensuring operational efficiency and quality through cutting-edge technologies. This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's broader vision to strengthen its defense sector capabilities.
