SAMI-AEC And Saudi Aramco Technologies Company Collaborate On Raqeeb Safety Solution Licensing Agreement
SAMI Advanced Electronics Company (SAMI-AEC), a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), has entered into a licensing agreement with Saudi Aramco Technologies Company (SATC). This deal focuses on the commercialisation of Raqeeb, a smart safety solution developed by Aramco. The need for such innovations is underscored by alarming global workplace incident statistics.
According to the International Labor Organization, workplace incidents claim approximately 2.78 million lives annually. Daily, over 7,500 fatal injuries and one million non-fatal injuries occur worldwide. These figures highlight the urgent necessity for enhanced safety measures in workplaces globally.

Raqeeb integrates advanced Internet of Things (IoT) technology with artificial intelligence to ensure worker safety in high-risk environments. This system connects each worker to SAMI-AEC's IoT platform using wearable devices and environmental sensors, enabling continuous monitoring and rapid response capabilities.
The system has already been implemented at various sites in collaboration with Aramco, leading to a notable reduction in workplace incidents and an improvement in operational productivity. This deployment showcases Raqeeb's potential to transform industry safety practices significantly.
SAMI-AEC CEO Eng. Ziad Al-Musallam stated: "This licensing agreement with Saudi Aramco Technologies Company is a significant milestone in our mission to create safer workplaces. Raqeeb is designed to reduce the frequency and severity of workplace incidents, aligning with modern safety standards."
SATC CEO Dr. Raed H. Abudawoud expressed that partnering with SAMI-AEC represents a major advancement. He noted that the licensed technology will boost team safety and operational efficiency. Given their history of collaboration on various projects, SAMI-AEC was deemed "the ideal choice to commercialize Raqeeb," according to Abudawoud.
Impact on Safety Standards
The introduction of Raqeeb aligns with modern safety standards by aiming to decrease both the frequency and severity of workplace incidents. It serves as an example of how technology can enhance worker productivity while improving industry safety practices.
Dr. Abudawoud also conveyed optimism about Raqeeb's successful commercialisation within Saudi Arabia and internationally. The system's development leverages Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, ensuring it remains at the forefront of innovation in workplace safety solutions.
This strategic partnership between SAMI-AEC and SATC marks a significant step forward in enhancing workplace safety through technological advancements. By leveraging cutting-edge IoT and AI technologies, Raqeeb promises to set new benchmarks for industry safety standards worldwide.
