Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Represents UAE At 42nd Council Of Arab Interior Ministers In Tunisia

Tunisian President Kais Saied welcomed H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, along with other Arab Interior Ministers at Carthage Palace. This meeting was part of the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers held in Tunis. Sheikh Saif conveyed greetings from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality.

Upon arriving in Tunisia, Lt. Gen. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan was greeted by Khaled Al-Nouri, Tunisia's Minister of Interior; Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Koman, Secretary-General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council; Dr. Iman Ahmed Al-Salami, UAE Ambassador to Tunisia; and other senior officials. The gathering included representatives from various international organisations.

The session brought together Interior Ministers from across the Arab world, accompanied by senior security officials. Representatives from the League of Arab States, INTERPOL, the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, and Europol were present. The Minister of Interior of Portugal also attended to highlight police cooperation between the European Union and Arab countries.

Key discussions centred on security initiatives such as the draft for the 11th phase plan for combating illicit drug use and psychotropic substances in the Arab region. Other topics included the 7th phase plan for civil protection strategy and the 2nd phase plan for combating cybercrime.

The agenda featured a review of reports from both the Secretary-General on activities between sessions and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences' President. The Council also examined recommendations from conferences held under its General Secretariat in 2024. Outcomes from joint meetings with Arab and international organisations were assessed alongside other priority issues.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed led the UAE delegation during this significant session aimed at enhancing regional security collaboration. The event underscored ongoing efforts to address pressing security challenges through cooperative strategies among member states.

The meeting highlighted shared goals in tackling issues like drug trafficking, cybercrime, and civil defence across participating nations. These collaborative efforts are crucial in fostering a safer environment within both regional and international contexts.
