Saif Bin Zayed Honours Union Teams For Innovation And Impact At UAE Government Annual Meetings 2024
In a ceremony attended by prominent UAE leaders, high-achieving "Union Teams" were honoured for their significant contributions to innovation and the UAE's global reputation. His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan recognised these teams for their exceptional work in advancing the nation's strategic goals.
The event was graced by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, alongside several ministers and officials. Their presence underscored the importance of the achievements celebrated during this occasion.
His Highness Sheikh Saif highlighted the UAE's continuous achievements as a reflection of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's vision and guidance from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He stated, "The UAE's continued remarkable achievements are a testament to the wise vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai."
The Union Teams were selected for their innovative approaches and positive societal impacts. Their efforts have significantly contributed to enhancing the UAE's international standing. These teams were recognised for their role in advancing national projects and visions through diligent work and creativity.
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) team facilitated 14 agreements, with six ratified and seven more anticipated in 2024. This effort contributed to AED 1.395 trillion in foreign trade during the first half of 2024 and AED 112.7 billion in foreign direct investment in 2023.
The Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant project team was also honoured for its role as the UAE's largest clean energy source. Barakah provides 25% of national power, prevents 22.4 million tons of CO2 emissions annually, supplies 75% of clean electricity, and supports the UAE’s vision as an AI hub.
Enhancements in Residency Framework
The new visa and residency framework boosted cross-border traffic from 84 million in 2022 to 108 million in 2023, reaching 93 million early in 2024. Residency permits increased to nine million while entry permits rose to 61 million, enhancing global competitiveness.
The Emiratisation Nafis programme placed 82,000 Emiratis into private sector roles since September 2021. This initiative led to a total of 116,000 entries with a notable increase in companies employing Emiratis by over 223% within three years.
Annual Meetings Overview
The UAE Government’s Annual Meetings for 2024 aimed at discussing development plans and national priorities for the coming year concluded today in Abu Dhabi. These meetings reflect significant organisational changes aligned with the leadership's vision for continuous improvement across various frameworks adopted over past sessions.
His Highness Sheikh Saif expressed pride in these national teams' contributions towards sustainable development driven by excellence among its people.
