Sahatna: Abu Dhabi's Unified Healthcare Mobile App For Enhanced Access

In an ambitious move to revolutionize healthcare in Abu Dhabi, the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DoH) has unveiled Sahatna, a comprehensive mobile application designed to offer residents easy and efficient access to healthcare services.

This app, which translates to 'Our Health' in Arabic, was introduced at the GITEX Global 2024, the world's largest technology show held in Dubai. Sahatna aims to foster a significant shift in how individuals manage their health, promising enhanced healthcare experiences and better health outcomes for the community.

Sahatna stands as a testament to Abu Dhabi's commitment to advancing healthcare through technology. Developed through a collaboration between the DoH and Abu Dhabi Health Data Service (ADHDS), this innovative application integrates the entire healthcare ecosystem of the emirate, allowing users to book appointments, consult doctors via video, and access their medical records and genomic reports. This initiative not only emphasizes the importance of digital transformation in healthcare but also underlines the role of strategic partnerships in achieving public health objectives.

Apart from catering to residents, Sahatna offers valuable services for visitors, helping them locate nearby healthcare facilities and learn about available services, including in-person and remote consultations. This ensures that even those temporarily in Abu Dhabi can benefit from the emirate's healthcare advancements.

Key Features and Innovations

The Sahatna app introduces several groundbreaking features aimed at personalizing healthcare. It includes a robust appointment scheduling system, giving users the power to easily connect with healthcare providers. For the first time, participants of the Emirati Genome Program can access personalized reports on wellness and lifestyle based on their genetic makeup, enabling them to make informed health and lifestyle decisions. The app's integration with wearable devices also allows for the tracking of wellness metrics, offering personalized goals to encourage active living and improved health.

With over 60% of Abu Dhabi's healthcare facilities connected to Sahatna, residents have unprecedented access to medical services. Ibrahim Al Jallaf, Executive Director of Digital Health at the DoH, highlighted the app's comprehensive coverage and its role in simplifying access to healthcare. He noted the app's potential for future enhancements, including more personalized healthcare features and an AI patient assistant, underscoring the DoH's vision for a patient-centric digital health system.

The launch event saw participation from key figures, including Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of DoH, and Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH. Dr. Al Ghaithi remarked on Abu Dhabi's strides towards becoming a global healthcare leader, attributing this progress to the emirate's leadership and collaborative efforts. She emphasized Sahatna's role in integrating the healthcare ecosystem to improve access, quality, and personalized wellness for residents.

Kareem Shahin, CEO of ADHDS, echoed this sentiment, expressing pride in the partnership with the DoH. He emphasized the app's capacity to connect individuals with quality healthcare and personalized wellness solutions, marking a step forward towards a healthier community.

Sahatna represents a significant leap towards a future where healthcare is more accessible, personalized, and integrated. By leveraging technology to meet the unique health needs of Abu Dhabi's community, the DoH is paving the way for a healthier, more informed society.
