SAFEEN Subsea Launches SAFEEN Green: An Unmanned Vessel For Sustainable Offshore Operations
SAFEEN Subsea, a division of AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster, has introduced "SAFEEN Green," an advanced unmanned vessel. This remotely operated vessel is set to transform marine surveys and inspections by delivering geophysical data to commercial standards while ensuring operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The vessel can operate up to 200 nautical miles offshore, gathering high-quality geophysical and hydrographic data with minimal environmental impact. Its operations are controlled from an onshore Remote Operation Centre (ROC), using sophisticated navigation and safety technologies for secure and continuous operations.

Operating on 100% renewable electric power or biofuel, SAFEEN Green emits only 10% of the emissions compared to conventional vessels. This significantly reduces its carbon footprint. The unmanned nature of the vessel enhances safety by removing risks to personnel, while dual autopilots, redundant HD cameras, and comprehensive monitoring systems ensure secure operations.
Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime & Shipping Cluster at AD Ports Group, stated, "The launch of SAFEEN Green marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainability and technological innovation. By integrating advanced remote operations and zero-emission capabilities, we are setting new standards for the maritime industry, encompassing safety and efficiency while remaining competitive and contributing to a greener future."
Tareq Abdulla Al Marzooqi, CEO of SAFEEN Subsea, highlighted the vessel's unique features: "SAFEEN Green is not just another unmanned vessel; it is a testament to our dedication to excellence and environmental stewardship. With its ability to operate independently for extended periods and perform a wide range of subsea tasks, SAFEEN Green is poised to become an invaluable asset for offshore EPC projects in the region."
Before its deployment in the UAE, SAFEEN Green underwent extensive trials in the North Sea. The vessel's operational flexibility allows it to serve various sectors such as oil and gas, wind farms, and deep-sea minerals by providing innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Commitment to Sustainability
SAFEEN Subsea is a joint venture between AD Ports Group and NMDC Group. It offers exceptional subsea services and tailored solutions that enhance planning, engineering, construction, positioning, and installation activities for major offshore EPC projects.
The modular payload options of SAFEEN Green ensure cost-efficiency without compromising performance. Its superior fuel economy further supports this efficiency. The introduction of this vessel signifies a major step forward in subsea services within the industry.
This initiative underscores AD Ports Group’s commitment to sustainability through technological advancements. By integrating remote operations with zero-emission capabilities, they aim to set new benchmarks for safety and efficiency in maritime operations while contributing positively towards a sustainable future.
