Safeen Subsea Strengthens Global Presence With Autonomous Maritime Projects And Innovations
Abu Dhabi's Safeen Subsea Services is advancing its role in maritime solutions by expanding operations and embracing autonomous technology. The company's CEO, Tariq Abdullah Al Marzooqi, shared insights during the DRIFTx event, part of Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Week from 10 to 12 November 2025. He highlighted that the Safeen Green vessel has completed over 20,000 kilometres of marine surveys.
Safeen has accomplished seven projects for ADNOC using advanced systems. These operations are controlled remotely from Zayed Port. By 2026, the company plans to use fully unmanned systems for all geophysical surveys. Additionally, it aims to expand visual inspection services for offshore facilities with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).

The ROVs are crucial for imaging and inspecting underwater structures. This marks a shift from hydrographic surveys to visual assessments in unmanned maritime operations. The transition signifies a new phase in their technological journey.
Safeen Subsea Services is also pursuing international growth with projects planned in Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Brunei. The company leverages its expertise and investment in unmanned vessels like Safeen Green 1 and Safeen Green 2. These platforms offer significant cost savings compared to traditional ships.
Al Marzooqi emphasised that participating in events focused on autonomous systems fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange. It also allows Safeen to showcase smart maritime solutions that support innovation and sustainability in the marine sector.
The company's strategic moves enhance its global competitiveness while reducing operational costs. This approach aligns with their commitment to technological advancement and sustainable practices within the industry.
