Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) Chief Executive Engineer Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al-Fageeh led a group of Saudi business leaders to the Business 20 (B20) meetings in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on October 24 and 25. The event focused on "Inclusive Growth for a Sustainable Future." During the opening ceremony, Eng. Al-Fageeh highlighted challenges in the chemicals industry, noting increased regulatory focus on carbon footprint reduction.

Despite these challenges, Eng. Al-Fageeh expressed optimism about the industry's future. He believes that balancing carbon emissions while adding value to consumer products is achievable through the circular carbon economy. The delegation discussed B20's key recommendations for submission to Group of Twenty (G20) leadership, covering global issues like trade, investment, and climate concerns.

The Saudi delegation engaged with counterparts from G20's largest economies, addressing recent global developments relevant to Saudi businesses and their customers worldwide. This year's delegation included four co-chairs, four vice-chairs, and 19 members across all eight working groups. This composition reflects the Saudi business community's commitment to supporting B20 objectives.

SABIC has led the Saudi delegation at B20 meetings for five consecutive years. The company first took this role during the Saudi summit in 2020 and continued through subsequent summits in Italy (2021), Indonesia (2022), India (2023), and now Brazil. This consistent leadership underscores SABIC's dedication to representing Saudi interests on a global stage.

The B20 serves as an official dialogue platform between the G20 and the global business community. It aims to represent business sector interests and convey proposals to G20 leaders. The discussions at B20 cover diverse topics such as digital transformation, finance, infrastructure, integrity, compliance, sustainable food systems, agriculture, women's empowerment, and diversity.

The Saudi delegation's participation highlights its commitment to addressing pressing global issues like energy transition and climate change. By engaging in these discussions, they aim to influence policies that align with both national interests and global sustainability goals.

The B20 meetings provide a crucial opportunity for Saudi business leaders to collaborate with international counterparts. They share insights on employment and education trends while exploring strategies for inclusive growth that benefit all stakeholders involved.

This year's theme of "Inclusive Growth for a Sustainable Future" resonates with ongoing efforts by Saudi businesses to integrate sustainable practices into their operations. By participating actively in these dialogues, they contribute valuable perspectives that help shape future economic policies globally.
