Saadiyat Island Abu Dhabi Marks International Museum Day With Cultural Events And Free Entry
Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi is a cultural haven for enthusiasts, especially on International Museum Day, 18 May. The island offers a rich array of experiences, from ancient artefacts to digital art and hands-on workshops. Visitors can enjoy these cultural activities throughout the month.
Louvre Abu Dhabi stands at the centre of these celebrations, offering free entry to UAE residents on 18 May from 10am to midnight. The galleries remain open until 8.30pm. Guests can admire global masterpieces, including the "Kings and Queens of Africa" exhibition, which honours African monarchs through art and artefacts until 25 May.

The Children’s Museum presents "Picturing the Cosmos," a creative space where art, science, and play converge for young minds. On the same day, art enthusiasts can participate in the final "Drawing at the Museum" session from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. A museum educator will guide guests through sketching techniques inspired by the permanent collection.
Bassam Freiha Art Foundation offers a unique textured art workshop titled "Art Beyond the Surface" on 27 May at 6pm. This hands-on session encourages participants to explore creativity through touch and texture without needing prior experience.
A short walk away, Manarat Al Saadiyat remains a lively hub for creativity with its Art Studio providing daily workshops and drop-in sessions for all ages. These sessions cover various artistic disciplines such as ceramics and painting.

For those seeking experimental art forms, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi offers an immersive experience in its newly opened 17,000-square-metre space. Visitors can engage with over 20 interactive artworks that blend technology, nature, and art in unique ways.
