Rwandan President Paul Kagame Discovers Advanced Policing Technologies in Dubai
During his recent visit to the Dubai Police General Headquarters, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda explored the forefront of security systems and policing innovations. This visit was part of his agenda while attending the World Governments Summit 2024, which took place from 12th to 14th February in Dubai. He was warmly received by Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, alongside his delegation.
Lt Gen Al Marri highlighted Dubai Police's dedication to enhancing global security cooperation. He referenced the strategic vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aiming to bolster global alliances and collaborative efforts against crime. This commitment is a testament to Dubai and the UAE's leadership in initiating innovative strategies for combating organised transnational crime and fostering safer communities through international collaboration.

The Rwandan President was given an extensive tour of the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations. Here, he was introduced to the 'Azri' system, an AI-powered map system crucial for tracking patrol locations, reporting sites, and patrol response times. This system is instrumental in predicting potential accidents in specific areas.
Additionally, President Kagame observed a film showcasing Dubai Police's efficient response to incidents and was briefed on the 'Drone Box'. This platform dispatches unmanned aerial vehicles across Dubai for quicker emergency responses and crime detection, underscoring Dubai Police as a leading law enforcement organisation globally.
The visit also covered humanitarian services provided by the General Department of Operations, focusing on specialised care for cardiac patients and people of determination. These services ensure immediate identification and swift dispatch of appropriate police and ambulance personnel through integrated databases.
President Kagame reviewed the Ghiath Smart Patrol, a pinnacle of technological advancement in security vehicles equipped with AI-powered systems for facial recognition, licence plate recognition, and a digital reporting system. He also visited the Smart Police Station (SPS) in Dubai Design District, learning about the diverse range of services offered in multiple languages, available 24/7 without human intervention.
Expressing his admiration for Dubai's advanced security systems and innovative services, President Kagame extended his best wishes for the UAE's continued progress and prosperity. He lauded the excellence of Dubai Police and all those involved in enhancing the policing and security system in Dubai and across the UAE.
