RUWAD Achieves 23.9% Growth In Government Contracts For 2024, Highlighting Emirati Entrepreneurs' Trust
The Sharjah Foundation to Support Pioneering Entrepreneurs (RUWAD), linked with the Sharjah Department of Economic Development, announced that its projects secured AED3,484,680 in government contracts across the UAE in 2024. This figure marks a 23.9% rise compared to 2023. Acting Director Fatima Al Ali highlighted that this increase reflects the strong reputation of RUWAD members as reliable suppliers to both federal and local government bodies.
Al Ali emphasised that RUWAD is committed to enhancing its members' competitiveness through targeted training programmes, awareness workshops, and discussions on government procurement methods. Members are encouraged to join approved supplier platforms and engage in digital tendering processes. These initiatives aim to strengthen their role in national development and public-private partnerships.

In 2024, RUWAD projects signed 318 contracts with 42 federal agencies. The services offered ranged from hospitality and catering to facility management and office operations. Prominent contracting entities included the Sharjah Police Academy, Kalba Municipality, and the Districts Affairs Department. This diverse range of services highlights the versatility of RUWAD members in meeting various governmental needs.
By the end of 2024, there was a significant increase in RUWAD members registered as suppliers with Sharjah's Central Finance Department. The number rose from 14 to 129, marking a remarkable 250% growth. This expansion allows more projects to benefit from government procurement privileges, further integrating them into the economic fabric of the region.
The foundation collaborates with key authorities such as the Ministry of Finance and Sharjah's Central Finance Department to create a supportive business environment. These partnerships facilitate greater participation in bids and offer additional incentives for enterprises. Such collaborations are crucial for fostering an ecosystem where entrepreneurial ventures can thrive.
RUWAD members also engaged in 22 mutual deals under the "Tashbeek" initiative. This programme aims to develop entrepreneurial relationships while enhancing collaboration and service integration among members. It serves as a platform for fostering connections that can lead to innovative solutions and shared growth opportunities.
Fatima Al Ali stated that these achievements demonstrate growing confidence in Emirati entrepreneurs' quality of services and goods. "It reinforces their position in national development," she said, highlighting how these efforts contribute significantly to public-private collaborations.
The progress made by RUWAD members underscores their increasing role in supporting national development goals through effective public-private partnerships. Their involvement in diverse sectors showcases their adaptability and commitment to contributing positively to the UAE's economic landscape.
