ADIHEX: A Platform For Russian Falcon Breeders To Strengthen UAE Ties
In a genuine farm near Moscow, Aleksandr Vlasenko and Yuri Tikhonov are creating a significant cultural and commercial link between the UAE and Russia through falconry. They specialise in breeding rare falcons, drawing attention from beyond Russia, especially in the Arab world where falconry is a cherished tradition.
Falconry holds a prestigious place in UAE culture, symbolising both heritage and status. Through events like ADIHEX, Russian breeders such as Vlasenko are discovering new opportunities to enhance connections between the two nations. This collaboration not only boosts the falconry market but also fosters cultural exchange, enriching shared traditions.

Vlasenko aims to connect Russian falcons with the UAE by participating in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX 2024). This esteemed event, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, attracts falcon enthusiasts, breeders, and investors globally.
The journey to introduce these falcons to the Gulf has its hurdles. Lengthy document processing in Russia can delay their entry into the UAE market. However, exhibitions like ADIHEX are transforming this scenario. With thousands of visitors at ADIHEX 2024, Russian breeders gain significant exposure to a market that values their birds' exceptional qualities.
For Vlasenko, ADIHEX represents a crucial opportunity. "ADIHEX allows us to showcase our unique Russian falcons, and we’re proud to contribute to this ancient tradition, which is shared by both Russia and the UAE," he told the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Unique Appeal of Russian Falcons
According to Vlasenko, Russian falcons have a distinct allure due to their robust bloodlines developed in cold northern climates. "The UAE market is always looking for the best falcons for hunting and racing, and our birds offer both strength and endurance," he said.
Specialising in breeding rare falcons has garnered attention far beyond Russia’s borders. The Arab world shows particular interest due to its deep-rooted heritage in falconry.
Through ADIHEX 2024, Russian breeders like Vlasenko find new ways to strengthen ties between Russia and the UAE. This collaboration benefits not only the falconry market but also serves as a cultural exchange that enriches both countries' shared heritage.
The event offers remarkable exposure for Russian breeders by providing access to a market that appreciates their birds' exceptional qualities.
This initiative by Vlasenko and Tikhonov exemplifies how cultural traditions can bridge nations while promoting commercial interests. Their efforts highlight how ancient practices like falconry continue to foster international connections today.
