How Dubai RTA’s 9 New Agreements With Developers And Freezones Will Boost Safety On Roads

Dubai has made significant strides towards enhancing its urban infrastructure through a series of strategic partnerships. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has joined forces with a host of principal property developers and free zones, marking a pivotal step in the city's infrastructure development.

These collaborations are aimed at streamlining the approval processes for infrastructure projects and overseeing activities on public roads and rights-of-way, with a particular focus on bolstering road safety and elevating service standards.

The initiative involves agreements with key players in the property development and free zone sectors, including giants like Emaar Properties, DAMAC Properties, Majid Al Futtaim Properties, and several others such as Nshama, Al Futtaim Properties, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai Investments Park, and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority.

Bader Al Siri, Executive Director of Right-of-Way at RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, underscored the significance of these partnerships. He said, "These partnerships are part of a comprehensive and integrated strategy to streamline the management of Dubai's right-of-way while providing a centralised framework for planning and implementing strategies."

Al Siri highlighted the dual benefits of these agreements: enhancing the road network's development and efficiency and improving traffic flow and road safety for motorists and pedestrians alike.

The RTA's commitment to preserving Dubai's urban landscape while promoting efficient and sustainable operation of its road network is evident through these agreements. They reflect a strategic alignment with Dubai's broader goal of maintaining world-class infrastructure standards, particularly within development areas and free zones. Such initiatives are central to RTA's strategy for safeguarding the city's aesthetic appeal and ensuring that its roads, facilities, and pedestrian pathways adhere to international best practices.

Al Siri also lauded the collaborative efforts between the RTA, property developers, and freezone authorities. He described this partnership as a testament to the collective endeavour towards implementing Law No. (4) of 2021, which governs the regulation of roads within development areas and free zones in Dubai.

Emphasising the critical importance of close cooperation between the RTA and its strategic partners, Al Siri pointed out how such synergies are instrumental in enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of Dubai's road infrastructure.

These partnerships are geared towards creating a unified platform for infrastructure project approvals, enhancing road safety, improving service levels, and ensuring compliance with the highest standards. As Dubai continues to expand and evolve, these collaborative efforts underscore the city's commitment to maintaining an efficient, safe, and world-class urban infrastructure.
