RTA Awards Dh431 Million Bridge Projects To Ease Dubai Harbour Access Points
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) partnered with Shamal Holding to construct direct entry and exit points for Dubai Harbour, allocating Dh431 million for the project. The plan involves building a 1500-metre bridge with two lanes in each direction connecting Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, stated that the bridge would accommodate 6,000 vehicles per hour and reduce travel time from 12 minutes to 3 minutes.

Dubai Harbour is situated between Bluewaters Island and Palm Jumeirah, close to iconic landmarks such as Burj Al Arab and Expo Dubai. Its prime location makes it an attractive destination for visitors and residents alike. The new bridge project aims to ease movement in and out of the area by providing direct access from Sheikh Zayed Road.

Al Tayer explained that the bridge would extend from the 5th intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road (near the American University in Dubai) to Dubai Harbour Street, passing through the intersection of Al Naseem Street with Al Falak Street and crossing over King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street. Additionally, surface improvements will be made at four intersections along the bridge to enhance traffic flow.
This ambitious infrastructure project aims to improve accessibility to Dubai Harbour while reducing travel time for its visitors and residents. The partnership between RTA and Shamal Holding demonstrates a commitment to enhancing Dubai's transportation network and overall urban development.
