RTA Announces Scholarship For Young Emiratis In Honour Of Dubai Metro's 15th Year

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a scholarship programme for 15 students born on 9/9/2009, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Dubai Metro. This initiative aligns with the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and reflects His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to nurture human capital in the UAE.

The scholarship programme is divided into three phases. The first phase spans two years of school, offering practical training at RTA during summer and winter breaks. Students will also participate in essential railway-focused training programmes with strategic partners and visit railway project sites.

RTA Scholarship Marks Metro Anniversary

In the second phase, which covers four to five years of university study, students receive scholarships to pursue a bachelor's degree in railway-related engineering. This phase includes training at RTA during breaks, participation in leadership forums, key events organised by RTA, and field visits to railway projects.

The third phase involves employment at the Rail Agency and participation in RTA’s Fast Track Programme for engineers. This two-year programme aims to enhance technical and administrative skills, offering rapid career advancement opportunities. Graduates will also receive professional certifications in Project Management and Value Engineering.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, emphasised the importance of fostering young Emirati talent. He stated that this initiative supports Dubai’s vision for future roads and transport development. "RTA remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate and empower Emirati talent," he said.

Supporting Emirati Talent

Al Tayer highlighted that nurturing a new generation of leaders capable of addressing future challenges is crucial for Dubai’s progress. This effort contributes to advancing RTA’s growth agenda both now and in the future. "By fostering a nurturing environment, we are preparing a new generation of leaders capable of anticipating future challenges," he added.

RTA is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to career progression for young Emiratis. The authority aims to attract highly skilled national talent and develop systems to motivate and retain employees, focusing on both academic and practical skill development.

Innovative Initiatives

Recently, RTA launched the ‘Professional Engineering Career Path’ initiative, the first of its kind in the UAE. This initiative offers specialised engineering roles aligned with market demands while enhancing job stability for engineers. Additionally, it introduced the ‘Fast Track’ initiative to attract top Emirati engineering graduates with outstanding academic qualifications.

This comprehensive approach ensures that graduates are prepared both technically and administratively to become specialists at RTA. These initiatives reflect RTA's commitment to being an employer of choice for qualified professionals.

The scholarship programme not only supports students academically but also provides practical experience through various training programmes and field visits. This holistic approach ensures that participants are well-prepared for their future careers in the transport sector.

This initiative marks a significant step towards consolidating Dubai’s leadership in sustainable mobility solutions for the region. By investing in young talent, RTA aims to drive innovation and progress within Dubai’s roads and transport sector.
