RTA Utilises Advanced Data Solutions To Enhance Seasonal Marine Transport Network Efficiency

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has refined its Seasonal Network for marine transport by using advanced technology and scientific methods. This approach showcases RTA's ability to adapt to the unique demands of seasonal service periods. It allows the authority to adjust services in response to demand changes during public holidays, festive seasons, and major events in Dubai.

The initiative will be rolled out seasonally, ensuring that customer needs are met while enhancing occupancy rates and lowering operational costs. The development process focuses on maintaining customer satisfaction and improving the efficiency of marine transport services. This strategic approach ensures that services are both effective and economical.

The study underpinning the seasonal marine transport network involved creating internal algorithms to analyse big data from various sources. These algorithms help develop a flexible operational plan for the network, which can be scaled for future data analysis. Each season is assessed independently to ensure optimal performance.

Predictive analysis was central to this project, allowing RTA to forecast the impact of operational changes. This method evaluates how well the network can adjust service schedules and trip frequencies according to passenger volumes, occupancy rates, and revenue performance of marine transport modes.

The summer season plan will start on 2nd May, using big data insights from marine transport services. This data includes passenger numbers, revenue figures, and occupancy rates. Such information is crucial for service development studies and helps improve network efficiency by simulating user behaviour and predicting demand patterns.

By leveraging big data, advanced systems, and digital applications, RTA has achieved greater flexibility in preparing and executing the Seasonal Marine Transport Network initiative. Services are deployed efficiently with detailed operational timetables that align with international best practices in the sector.
