RTA Launches 15 Air-Conditioned Rest Areas For Delivery Bike Riders In Dubai
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched 15 new air-conditioned rest areas for delivery bike riders. These are located at key bus and metro stations across the emirate. This initiative aligns with RTA's ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and improve the quality of life for delivery riders, especially during the midday work ban.
The midday work ban restricts outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12:30 to 15:00 daily. This regulation is currently in effect and will last until 15th September. The new rest areas complement RTA's previous installation of 40 permanent air-conditioned shelters at strategic locations throughout Dubai.

The design of these shelters aims to minimise the impact of direct sunlight while maintaining effective insulation and visibility. Inside, they offer amenities like water dispensers, mobile phone charging stations, and ample parking for motorbikes. These features enhance rider comfort and encourage adherence to traffic rules.
In collaboration with Deliveroo, the UAE Food Bank is supplying 7,500 ready-made hot meals to these temporary rest areas. This initiative provides free meals to delivery riders as a token of appreciation for their service to the community and their significant role in Dubai's economy, particularly as the delivery sector expands rapidly.
The new rest areas are strategically placed at several bus stations including Gold Souq, Al Satwa, Al Jafiliya, and Oud Metha. They are also accessible at various metro station exits such as e& (Exit 1), Al Qusais (Exits 1 and 2), Emirates Towers (Exit 1), Insurance Market (Exit 2), Centrepoint (Exit 1), Al Furjan (Exit 1), Business Bay (Exit 2), DMCC (Exit 2), ADCB (Exit 2), and BurJuman (Exit 4).
This initiative underscores RTA's commitment to providing essential services that ensure comfort for delivery riders while supporting their compliance with safety regulations. By offering these facilities, RTA aims to create a safer and more comfortable working environment for this vital segment of the workforce.
