RTA Enhances Access Points For Four Neighbourhoods In Dubai To Improve Traffic Flow

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is undertaking a project to enhance access points for four neighbourhoods. This initiative aligns with leadership goals to boost infrastructure, support urban growth, and improve residents' quality of life. The upgraded entry and exit points are located along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Emirates Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and Hessa Street. These improvements aim to increase capacity by 50 to 80 percent.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at RTA, stated that the project demonstrates RTA's dedication to improving infrastructure in residential areas. This includes road networks, lighting, and stormwater drainage systems to handle growing traffic volumes. "This project reflects RTA’s commitment to continually enhance infrastructure in residential areas, including road networks, lighting, and stormwater drainage, to accommodate increasing traffic volumes," he said.

RTA Improves Access Points in Dubai Neighbourhoods

The project introduces an additional entry and exit for Nadd Hessa from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. This enhancement features two lanes capable of accommodating 6,000 vehicles per hour. It will benefit Nadd Hessa, Warsan 4, Hessa Gardens, and Dubai Silicon Oasis, which together house over 300,000 residents.

The development extends from the intersection with the service road parallel to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to its intersection with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. It involves constructing a two-lane road in each direction alongside Nad Hessa. A roundabout will provide access to both Nadd Hessa and Dubai Silicon Oasis Complex. Additionally, a signalised junction with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street will be implemented.

A new 7.5 km road will connect Al Awir 1 directly to Emirates Road. This route serves a community of over 50,000 residents by doubling capacity from 1,500 to 3,000 vehicles per hour. The new entry and exit points aim to streamline access for this area.

In Wadi Al Safa 3, direct access from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road is being introduced for vehicles coming from Dubai–Al Ain Road. The project includes constructing 4 km of internal roads and new entry points for residents. These enhancements will reduce travel distance by 10 km and cut travel time from ten minutes down to just two minutes.

Hessa Street Development Project

The ongoing Hessa Street Development Project benefits around 75,000 residents in Al Barsha South. Modifications include adding a third left-turn lane at the intersection with Hessa Street to improve access into Al Barsha South. Additionally, widening Hessa Street by two lanes over a stretch of 1,114 metres facilitates traffic flow towards Al Khail Road.

This expansion increases the total number of lanes to four in each direction on Hessa Street. It enhances access to Al Barsha South while boosting traffic capacity from 6,000 up to 9,000 vehicles per hour. The project also optimises traffic flow by reducing wait times at signals from four minutes down to one minute.

Al Warqa Developments

An ongoing project aims at adding an entry and exit for Al Warqa with direct access from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. This involves expanding the internal road network by eight kilometres within one year’s timeframe. Upon completion it will handle rising traffic volumes efficiently while increasing capacity by up-to-5-thousand vehicles-per-hour.

The improvements are expected not only reduce travel time significantly but also shorten distances travelled within this area considerably benefiting over three-hundred-fifty-thousand residents overall through enhanced connectivity between key routes such as those leading outwards towards major highways like Emirates Road or beyond into other parts across Dubai itself too!

RTA plans further developments including internal roads construction within both Al Warqa-3-and-4 areas soon enough alongside building sixteen-kilometre cycling track connecting nearby cycling routes altogether making commuting easier than ever before possible hereabouts indeed!
