RTA Hosts Exhibition To Showcase Innovative AI Initiatives For Enhanced Mobility Services
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently hosted an exhibition to highlight its advanced artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. This event, held at the RTA headquarters, was part of the effort to advance the Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030. The week-long showcase aimed to engage employees and strategic partners, demonstrating AI's role in enhancing service delivery and integrated mobility systems.
The exhibition featured 11 AI-powered initiatives aligned with six strategic pillars: Seamless and Innovative Mobility, People Happiness, Smart Traffic Management, Smart Licensing, Asset Excellence, and Future Readiness. Among these was the Bus Drivers Support System: Control and Operation Centre, which uses AI for real-time communication between drivers and the control centre by analysing voice and data.

Another notable initiative was the Dubai Metro Water and Electricity Consumption Forecast Dashboard. This predictive analytics tool aims to promote sustainable resource use while reducing costs. Additionally, the AI-driven Madinati WhatsApp service allows users to report public transport asset damage efficiently.
The Smart Assessment of Cycling Track Infrastructure employs new global indicators to evaluate safety and comfort levels. Also showcased was the Smart Road Asset Assessment System, which uses LiDAR technology combined with AI to prioritise maintenance tasks and update digital asset records effectively.
The Smart Traffic Management initiative displayed at the Dubai Intelligent Traffic Systems Centre utilises big data alongside AI to optimise traffic flow. Meanwhile, the AI-Powered Bus Network Management tool analyses ridership data to enhance route planning. The Instructor Monitoring System incorporates in-vehicle AI cameras to oversee driving instructors, thereby improving training standards.
Other innovations included a Plate Price Prediction System that forecasts auction revenues using historical data. Microsoft Copilot-Enabled Operations were also highlighted for their ability to automate tasks and analyse data efficiently.
Public Transport Improvements
The Public Transport Station Management Using AI initiative tracks crowd density and movement patterns. This helps improve passenger flow while reducing wait times significantly. These initiatives collectively aim to enhance public transport efficiency across Dubai.
RTA’s AI Week also included sessions, forums, and expert-led discussions on AI’s role in smart mobility and city development. A significant component was a three-day AI Hackathon where RTA staff competed in developing AI-driven mobility solutions. The event concluded with an awards ceremony recognising competition winners.
Strategic Vision for 2030
Mohammed Yousef Al Mudharreb, CEO of Corporate Technology Support Services Sector and Deputy Head of RTA’s AI and Data Science Team, noted that this event built on momentum from Dubai AI Week held last April under directives from H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He stressed engaging employees and partners in adopting practical AI use cases while enhancing governance and technical capabilities.
In April, RTA launched its Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030 comprising 81 projects aimed at establishing RTA as a global leader in AI-driven mobility solutions while improving quality of life in Dubai.
