RTA Enhances E-Scooter Payment Options By Expanding Nol Card Services In Dubai
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced the nol Card as a new payment option for electric scooter users. This addition is available for scooters operated by RTA-approved providers across the emirate. The initiative aims to improve first and last-mile connectivity by integrating public transport with flexible mobility solutions.
Salahuddin AlMarzooqi, Director of Automated Collection Systems at RTA’s Corporate Technology Support Sector, explained, "This initiative aligns with RTA’s vision to enhance first and last-mile connectivity by seamlessly integrating public transport with flexible mobility solutions. By introducing the nol Card as a convenient payment method, we aim to provide users with an efficient and user-friendly experience."

The nol Card has been integrated into all authorised electric scooter operator apps as a new payment method. Users can now link their nol Card via NFC technology on their smartphones to purchase various packages—hourly, daily, or monthly. To use this service, downloading the operator's app is required.
Widely accepted for public transport such as metro, buses, trams, and marine transport, the nol Card is also used in private services like taxis and the Nakheel Monorail. Its integration into electric scooters further expands its utility in Dubai's transport network.
The RTA is upgrading the nol system from traditional card-based ticketing to a modern account-based system. This advanced system follows global best practices and ensures high standards of electronic and financial security. The upgrade aims to improve operational efficiency and maximise data utilisation generated by the system.
This new system will offer innovative features like trip planning, booking, and pre-payment through smart channels. These enhancements are part of Dubai's efforts to advance its smart mobility ecosystem and tailor services to meet customer needs effectively.
The RTA's move towards a more integrated payment solution reflects its commitment to enhancing user experience across various modes of transport. By expanding payment options and upgrading systems, Dubai continues to lead in smart mobility initiatives.
