RTA And E& UAE Collaborate To Enhance Future Mobility Technologies In Dubai
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai recently engaged in a significant meeting with e& UAE's delegation. The focus was on enhancing future technologies in mobility and communications. Discussions revolved around joint projects to advance mobility infrastructure and create innovative solutions for the digital age.
The meeting emphasised using advanced technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). These technologies aim to improve smart mobility services, enhancing comfort, safety, and quality of life for public transport users in Dubai. Additionally, modern communication networks were highlighted for their potential to provide real-time traffic data, aiding smoother traffic flow and reducing congestion.

RTA showcased its digital initiatives across seven key areas: digital twin technology, metaverse, robotics, ecosystems, enterprise solutions, AI, data analytics, and IoT. These initiatives are part of Phase I of RTA’s Digital Strategy 2023-2030. This strategy includes 82 projects aiming to build a flexible digital infrastructure and achieve fintech-enabled mobility at 100 percent.
Mohammed Al Mudharreb, CEO of the Corporate Technology Support Services Sector at RTA, expressed commitment to advancing digital innovation in transportation. He stated, "By leveraging the power of 5G technology for real-time traffic management, adopting AI-driven solutions to provide seamless travel experiences, and utilising IoT to develop smarter and safer infrastructure, we strive to push the boundaries of what is achievable and establish leadership in intelligent transport systems."
Al Mudharreb further added that integrating advanced technologies aims to create an intelligent mobility ecosystem focused on efficiency and sustainability. This ecosystem will serve the community by connecting various sectors seamlessly.
e& UAE's Role in Digital Transformation
Abdullah Al Ahmad from e& UAE highlighted their role in driving digital transformation through advanced technologies. He remarked that their partnership with RTA underscores a commitment to creating sustainable solutions aligned with Dubai’s vision of becoming the world’s smartest city. "At e& UAE, we believe the advanced digital technologies we develop, along with our innovative solutions, play a pivotal role in driving digital transformation and shaping the future of smart mobility."
During the workshop, participants proposed ideas for further study. These included Mobility-as-a-Service platforms, integrating 5G technology into public transport, vehicle connectivity via IoT, and incorporating communication towers into smart city infrastructure.
The collaboration between RTA and e& UAE signifies a shared vision for a digitally advanced future. By focusing on cutting-edge technologies like AI and IoT alongside robust communication networks such as 5G, they aim to transform Dubai’s transport landscape into one defined by intelligence and sustainability.
