Improved Flow: Dubai RTA Delivers Three Strategic Traffic Solutions in Business Bay
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finalised three traffic improvement projects in Business Bay. These upgrades involved expanding and modernising various sections of the street, which directly connects to Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road. The aim was to enhance traffic flow and road safety in this bustling area.
The enhancements are part of a larger initiative to improve infrastructure and boost the efficiency of Dubai’s road network. This is crucial for accommodating population growth and urban development. The completed projects have resulted in smoother traffic flow, higher safety standards, and reduced travel times, especially in high-density areas.

One significant change was converting the street parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road from a two-lane, two-way setup into a one-way dual roadway. This modification included updated signage and road markings, reducing traffic overlap points. As a result, the street's capacity increased by 100 percent, significantly improving overall traffic flow.
Additionally, at the intersection of Al Mustaqbal Street with Al Khaleej Al Tejari 1 Street, a 100-metre-long storage lane was added. This enhancement increased right-turn capacity towards First Al Khail Street by up to 50 percent. Consequently, congestion decreased, waiting times shortened, and the intersection’s capacity and service level improved.
Further improvements were made near the towers where the service road parallel to Al Mustaqbal Street was reorganised. An additional lane was introduced to handle rising traffic volumes. This step increased road capacity by approximately 50 percent and reduced traffic conflicts.
Moreover, RTA expanded the entry point to the bridge on Al Mustaqbal Street over the canal towards First Al Khail Street from one lane to two. This expansion doubled its capacity, easing traffic pressure during peak hours and enhancing vehicle flow along this vital corridor.
These enhancements cater to residents, visitors, and businesses in an area known for its diverse mix of residential, commercial, and service facilities. By addressing these needs, RTA aims to improve the overall road user experience in Business Bay.
