RTA Completes Significant Traffic Enhancements In Al Barsha South 1 To Improve Safety And Efficiency

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finalised significant traffic improvements on Street 34 in Al Barsha South 1. These changes, driven by community input, are part of RTA's broader mission to enhance road safety and infrastructure within residential areas. The upgrades align with Dubai's urban development goals and RTA’s vision for seamless, sustainable mobility.

Among the major upgrades are four new entry and exit points on Street 34. These are designed to facilitate vehicle movement, cutting travel time from five minutes to under one minute. Additionally, continuous sidewalks were built along the street, and 158 new parking spaces were added to better serve residents.

RTA Enhances Traffic Flow in Al Barsha South 1

The improvements aim to streamline parking activities and reduce random roadside parking. This will enhance overall traffic safety in the neighbourhood. A new U-turn at the junction of Street 34 and Al Hadaeq Street was also constructed to improve traffic flow and provide direct access for residents.

Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, stated that these enhancements are part of a larger effort to ensure safer traffic movement across Dubai. He said, "The recent rapid enhancements in Al Barsha South are part of RTA’s broader efforts to ensure safer and more efficient traffic movement across Dubai’s Road network, especially within residential communities."

He further explained that these upgrades align with leadership's vision to improve quality of life through reliable mobility infrastructure. Seven pedestrian crossings have been strategically placed across internal roads to minimise unsafe interactions between vehicles and pedestrians.

Community Engagement

Al Banna highlighted RTA’s dedication to engaging with community feedback for effective traffic solutions. He emphasised their commitment to upgrading infrastructure on both main and local roads with high traffic volumes. This supports Dubai’s ongoing development while enhancing liveability for residents and visitors alike.

The improvements have successfully reduced congestion at key intersections in Al Barsha South. They reflect RTA's ongoing commitment to pedestrian safety by addressing conflict points in high-density residential areas.

The enhancements not only ease traffic flow but also contribute significantly towards creating a fully integrated urban environment. This aligns with Dubai's strategic objectives for sustainable development and improved quality of life.
