RTA Completes Road Improvements For Enhanced Access To Hatta Souq Roundabout
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has finalised road enhancements near the Hatta Souq Roundabout. This initiative aligns with RTA's goals to boost traffic efficiency, cut travel times, and improve safety. These upgrades aim to provide a smooth travel experience for both residents and tourists visiting Hatta's key spots.
A significant part of the project was constructing a 1 km service road parallel to the main Dubai-Hatta Road. This new route connects the Hatta Souq Roundabout with the main road, easing access for visitors and shoppers heading to Hatta Souq. It also facilitates movement between the roundabout and Masfut area entrances in both directions.

Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, stated, "The upgrades included comprehensive lighting works along the entire stretch, with modern lighting units installed to enhance road user safety, particularly during night hours. Additionally, infrastructure improvements were implemented, including the relocation of existing utility services in coordination with service providers in Dubai. Every effort was made to ensure the road meets the needs of Hatta residents and nearby facilities."
Al Shehhi highlighted that RTA opted for the Irish Crossing system for surface water drainage. This system ensures road durability and operational efficiency under various weather conditions by reducing water accumulation on roads. It enhances vehicle safety while lessening environmental pressure on the road network.
RTA remains dedicated to projects that boost road network efficiency and uphold top traffic safety standards across Hatta’s roads. Al Shehhi noted these efforts aim to improve traffic flow in Hatta and its surrounding tourist destinations while supporting seamless connectivity with neighbouring areas like Masfut and Al Madam.
These developments contribute significantly to sustainable growth and reinforce Hatta’s status as a major tourism hub within Dubai. The improvements not only enhance local mobility but also support broader regional connectivity, benefiting residents and visitors alike.
