RTA Completes Road Widening Works In Al Jaddaf And Business Bay To Improve Traffic Flow
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finalised 1 kilometre of road widening works at two key locations: Al Jaddaf and Business Bay. The first site involved expanding Al Khail Road by 600 metres at Al Jaddaf, adding a new lane to enhance traffic flow towards Deira. The second site saw the addition of a 435-metre lane at the entrance to Business Bay.
These roadworks are part of several initiatives undertaken by the RTA to ease traffic congestion and improve the efficiency of road infrastructure across Dubai. The project aims to serve users of Al Khail Road, residents of nearby communities, and visitors to commercial outlets along the road.

Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, stated, "Al Khail Road is a vital traffic corridor in Dubai, witnessing a surge in vehicle movement. RTA was keen to add a new lane at Al Jaddaf, increasing the number of lanes to six and boosting the road’s capacity by about 2,000 vehicles per hour, which has reduced congestion by 25 percent."
Al Shehhi further mentioned that the surface expansion of Al Khail Road at the entrance to Business Bay will improve traffic flow entering the Business Bay area from Al Khail Road and enhance traffic safety in that sector towards Abu Dhabi. Further improvements will be undertaken at several locations on Al Khail Road as part of the Al Khail Road Improvement Project, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The RTA's efforts are focused on making Dubai's roads more efficient and safer for all users. These enhancements are expected to significantly benefit daily commuters and contribute to smoother traffic conditions across the emirate.
