Dubai: Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop Expansion Now Complete

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully expanded the Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop, significantly increasing its truck parking capacity from 40 to 175 slots. This expansion represents a 338% growth and aligns with RTA's goal to improve land freight operations, enhance services for heavy vehicle drivers, and boost road safety throughout Dubai.

The Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop is strategically positioned near major highways like Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. This location ensures easy access for truck drivers. The rest stop is part of a network designed to offer a comprehensive and well-equipped resting environment for those operating heavy vehicles.

RTA Expands Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop

Ahmed Al Khzaimy, Director of Traffic at the Traffic and Roads Agency, highlighted the significance of this expansion. He stated: "The expansion of Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop is part of RTA’s strategy to enhance heavy vehicle infrastructure and elevate service quality for truck drivers. The parking spaces have been designed and expanded to the highest standards, ensuring ease of use, smooth traffic flow, and a safe, comfortable environment—particularly for drivers arriving from Ras Al Khor Road or travelling from Emirates Road towards Sharjah."

The rest stop now includes modern facilities such as a prayer room, restrooms, a diesel refuelling station, and workshops for maintenance and tyre replacement. These amenities are crucial in supporting land transport operations comprehensively.

Al Khzaimy also noted that these rest stops play an essential role in improving road safety by reducing truck-related accidents. They help manage traffic flow during periods when truck movement is restricted and minimise random truck parking on main roads.

Furthermore, the Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop aids in organising truck movement on major roads, especially during restrictions on Emirates Road. This contributes to smoother traffic flow and enhanced safety for all road users.

RTA remains committed to developing projects that enhance Dubai's road network. These efforts aim to ensure the highest levels of safety and seamless traffic flow, aligning with RTA's vision of being "The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility," as concluded by Al Khzaimy.
