Dubai Launches Bus Pooling Service With Dynamic Pricing: A Guide On How To Book These Buses

In a pioneering move to enhance Dubai's public transport system, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a forward-thinking Bus Pooling initiative. This scheme allows passengers to share minibus rides, booked via smart applications, marking a significant step towards providing a more convenient, quick, and modern travel option for both locals and tourists.

The initiative, which stems from a collaboration with three companies known for their expertise in public transport, both within the UAE and globally, signifies RTA's dedication to modernizing and extending Dubai's transportation network to meet the evolving needs of its city's inhabitants and visitors.

These minibuses will operate on demand, with bookings facilitated through three smart applications: Citylink Shuttle, DrivenBus, and Fluxx Daily, managed by three specialized companies evenly distributed among three companies, with each company operating and managing 20 minibuses through the designated apps, which will feature dynamic and competitive pricing. The service is designed to adapt to the varying needs of Dubai’s residents and visitors, offering both individual trips and subscription options for frequent users.

The RTA plans to extend this bus pooling service to encompass more routes and neighborhoods, aiming to forge a sustainable, efficient city-wide transport system. This expansion underscores the initiative’s role in advancing Dubai’s transport infrastructure and its adaptability to the community’s dynamic needs.

The initiative not only presents an innovative approach to public transportation but also emphasizes the importance of using licensed transport options, steering passengers away from unauthorised services. By leveraging advanced technologies, this project aligns with global public transport trends, offering an economical, on-demand service that contributes significantly to reducing city traffic congestion. The buses' capacity ranges from 13 to 30 passengers, with fares varying based on travel distance and service demand.

Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA's Public Transport Agency, emphasized the project's goal to attract new community segments by offering a swift and convenient transportation alternative. "This initiative aims to attract new segments of the community by offering a fast and convenient transport option that, in many cases, eliminates reliance on private vehicles. It will also practically contribute to make the traffic smoother on the city's roads," Bahrozyan highlighted.

"This initiative is one of the latest innovations in public transportation. It offers a flexible and user-friendly solution for passengers, allowing commuters to pre-book seats through smart apps and benefit from the minibus service, which provides flexible journeys with a predefined schedule," Bahrozyan confirmed.
