Saudi Arabia: Riyadh Metro Launches Full Operations With Orange Line Rollout

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) declared the commencement of the Orange Line, also recognized as the Al Madinah Al Munawwarah Axis, of the Riyadh Metro network.

This advancement signifies a significant milestone, marking the completion of the phased introduction of the metro's six lines, in line with the initial plan shared during the project's launch. Spanning 41 kilometers from Jeddah Road to the Second Eastern Ring Road and running parallel to Khashm Al Aan in the east, the Orange Line enhances the urban transit landscape from east to west across the city.

Riyadh Metro s Orange Line Now Operational

With the Orange Line now operational, commuters have access to several key stations including Jeddah Road, Tuwaiq, Al Dawh, Harun Al Rashid Road, and An Naseem. Notably, An Naseem serves as a pivotal interchange station, facilitating seamless transitions between the Orange and Purple lines.

In a related development, the RCRC also inaugurated three additional stations on the Blue Line, known as the Al Olaya – Al Batha Axis. These new stations, Al Murooj, Bank Al Bilad, and King Fahad Library, further expand the network's reach, promising improved access and convenience for users.

The full operational status of the Riyadh Metro's six lines is poised to revolutionize mobility within the capital, offering both residents and visitors a more connected and efficient way to navigate the city. Operating from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM, the metro network aims to provide a reliable and convenient transportation option, reducing travel time and congestion on the roads.

To facilitate a smooth travel experience, passengers can utilize the "Darb" mobile application or visit ticket offices and self-service machines available at the metro stations to plan their journeys and purchase tickets. This integration of technology with transportation infrastructure underscores the RCRC's commitment to enhancing the commuter experience through innovative solutions.

For additional information or assistance, individuals are encouraged to reach out to the unified public transport Call Center at 19933 or explore the Riyadh Metro's website and social media platforms. This initiative reflects the broader efforts to bolster public transport infrastructure in the city, aiming to improve quality of life for its inhabitants by offering efficient, sustainable, and accessible transportation options.
