Toronto Roundtable Meeting Initiates New Phase In Saudi-Canadian Economic Relations

The Federation of Saudi Chambers, through the Saudi-Canadian Business Council, has revitalised economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Canada. This follows a six-year pause in trade delegation activities. The renewed engagement coincides with Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef's visit to Canada. His trip aims to explore new trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.

A significant roundtable meeting took place in Toronto, organised by the Saudi-Canadian Business Council. Attendees included Minister Alkhorayef, Saudi Ambassador to Canada Amal Al-Moalimi, and Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Dulaim, President of the Saudi-Canadian Business Council. Several key investors also participated in this event.

New Chapter in Saudi-Canadian Relations

The discussions at the meeting focused on potential investments in both countries. Strategic sectors such as mining and industries were highlighted, aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals. These discussions aim to foster mutual growth and strengthen economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Canada.

One notable outcome of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of understanding. This agreement aims to establish a joint Saudi-Canadian company that will specialise in designing and manufacturing complex structures for entertainment and sports events.

Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Dulaim emphasised the council's achievements in reviving economic cooperation between the two countries. He noted productive discussions with major Canadian companies, which led to commercial partnerships being signed. Additionally, a Business Council office was opened in Toronto as part of these efforts.

In July, the Federation of Saudi Chambers announced the final formation of the Saudi-Canadian Business Council. This marked a crucial step towards restoring economic relations after years of suspended trade missions and delegation activities.

This renewed collaboration signifies a promising future for both nations as they work together to enhance their economic partnership further.
