ROSHN Group Launches MUSAHAMA Design Competition To Empower Emerging Architects In Saudi Arabia

ROSHN Group, a prominent real estate developer and part of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has introduced the MUSAHAMA Design Competition - Emerging Design Firms Track. This initiative, in partnership with PIF, is open for registration until 30th September. The competition aims to select designs for facilities within the SEDRA community, promoting local talent and supporting Vision 2030.

The MUSAHAMA Design Competition: SEDRA Pedestrian Spine invites emerging architects to contribute to Saudi Arabia's future living spaces. Participants will design amenities such as a local mosque, neighbourhood convenience centre, early education centre, and a park. This opportunity is open to final-year students, recent graduates, and local design firms.

MUSAHAMA Design Competition for Emerging Architects

The competition features two distinct tracks. One track targets Saudi students in their final year or recent architecture graduates. The other track is tailored for emerging local architectural firms. These firms must be founded by Saudi nationals, based in Saudi Arabia, have been operating for less than a decade, and employ fewer than 20 people.

Participants will gain valuable insights through professional webinars and an in-person workshop with leading local and international firms. Over 14 weeks, designs will be developed with winners announced in February 2025. This provides a platform for participants to enhance their skills and showcase their creativity.

Entries will be evaluated based on several criteria: the use of local materials, design excellence, functionality, urban response, and sustainability. These factors ensure that the designs align with both modern needs and traditional values. The top prize for the emerging design firms track is SAR400,000. Second place receives SAR300,000 while third place earns SAR200,000.

This initiative not only encourages innovation but also aligns with Vision 2030's goals of fostering local talent and sustainable development. By engaging young architects and firms in this competition, ROSHN Group aims to shape a vibrant future for Saudi Arabia's communities.
