Roblox Enhances Global Accessibility By Adding Arabic Language Support To Its Platform

Roblox, a platform for gaming and creation, now offers Arabic language support globally. This includes access on desktop, tablets, mobile devices, and gaming consoles like PlayStation and Xbox. Roblox CEO David Baszucki announced this development during a chat at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, held from 11th to 13th February. The event focused on 'Shaping Future Governments'.

Baszucki expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, "At Roblox, we have a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility and to do that we need a platform that is accessible for all. With the growth of our community here in the UAE and in the wider MENA region, we are excited to share that we are now supporting the Arabic language on the Roblox software stack, providing millions of Arabic speakers worldwide with access to the platform’s features, on all devices."

Roblox boasts 88.9 million daily active users worldwide. It serves as a hub where users can play, explore, create, and learn through numerous user-generated games and virtual experiences. The company aims to transform how people interact in a safe and optimistic environment.

The addition of Arabic makes it one of 16 languages supported by Roblox. This move highlights its increasing popularity in the MENA region. In 2024, Roblox ranked as the second most downloaded gaming app on iOS and fifth on Google Play within this region.

Roblox's automatic translation tools now include Arabic support. Creators can make their games available in any of the 16 supported languages without manually handling translations. This feature simplifies reaching diverse audiences globally.

The platform also employs text chat filtering technology to detect inappropriate content in Arabic. This complements human moderation efforts to uphold Community Standards as part of Roblox’s commitment to safety.

Growing Popularity in MENA Region

From Q3 2021 to Q3 2024, Roblox saw an average growth of 80% in daily active users across five MENA countries. Hours engaged increased by 76% during this period. These figures underscore its expanding influence in this region.

This strategic move aligns with Roblox's vision of fostering a global community that thrives on creativity while ensuring accessibility for all users.
