Qatar Urges Motorists: Avoid Eating While Driving, Stay Alert On Roads During Ramadan
The Ministry of Interior in Qatar, once again during the Holy Month of Ramadan, has highlighted the importance of road safety, urging drivers to exercise caution and follow specific guidelines to prevent accidents. It emphasised the need for drivers to avoid speeding and reckless behavior, especially before Iftar, and to adhere strictly to speed limits to ensure everyone's safety on the roads.
To minimise distractions during the critical times of Iftar and Suhoor, the Ministry advised against eating or drinking while driving. Instead, they recommend stopping in a safe area to have food or drinks before proceeding. This precaution helps maintain focus on driving and reduces the risk of accidents.

Moreover, the authorities stress the importance of ensuring the road is completely clear from all directions before attempting to cross, particularly during peak times, and to only do so at designated crossing points. This advice is particularly crucial in busy hours when the traffic is more likely to be congested, and the risk of accidents increases.
For the safety of children, the Ministry of Interior advises against letting them play on the internal roads of residential areas, especially after dark. It recommends that children should only play in areas specifically designed for them, reducing the likelihood of traffic-related accidents.
Lastly, the Ministry warns against driving when feeling unwell, tired, or dizzy, as these conditions significantly impair focus and can lead to dangerous situations on the road. They advise those with health conditions that require medication or rest, and which might affect their concentration or induce relaxation, to avoid driving altogether for their safety and the safety of others.
The Ministry of Interior's reminder and safety tips underscore the importance of cautious driving during Ramadan. By following these guidelines, drivers can contribute to a safer road environment for themselves and others, ensuring a peaceful and accident-free Holy Month.
