Riyadh Season Sets Stage For Latino Night With Global Boxing Stars

Advisor Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al Alshikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), announced that Riyadh Season will feature a Latino Night on November 16. This event will take place at The Venue, one of the new areas introduced this year. Organised in collaboration with Golden Boy Promotions, owned by six-weight world champion Oscar De La Hoya, the night promises to showcase top Latin boxers.

Latino Night will be broadcast globally for free, with details on viewing platforms to be shared soon. The highlight of the evening is a historic bout between WBA Cruiserweight World Champion Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez and WBO Cruiserweight World Champion Chris Billam-Smith. Ramirez has 46 victories, 30 by knockout, and aims to become the undisputed champion in his weight class. Billam-Smith, who has defended his title three times, boasts 20 victories, 13 by knockout.

Latino Night Boxing at Riyadh Season

Ramirez made history as the first Mexican to become world champion in both Super Middleweight and Cruiserweight divisions. He now seeks to dominate the Cruiserweight category. Billam-Smith, an English boxer, has held the WBO Cruiserweight title since 2023 and previously held European, British, and Commonwealth titles from 2019 to 2022.

The event will also feature several other top boxing champions. Former American Olympic champion Jose Ramirez will face undefeated WBO top-ranked Arnold Barboza Jr. in a 12-round WBO Super-Lightweight World Title eliminator. Jose Ramirez has won 29 fights, with 18 by knockout, while Barboza Jr. has secured 30 wins, with 11 by knockout.

In another exciting match-up, Mexican William "El Camaron" Zepeda will fight former IBF World Champion Tevin Farmer in a 10-round lightweight bout. Zepeda has an impressive record of 31 fights with 27 knockouts. Farmer has won 33 fights with eight knockouts.

More Anticipated Matches

The night will also see Mexican Oscar "La Migrana" Duarte facing American Kenneth "Bossman" Sims Jr. in a 12-round WBA Super-Lightweight World Title eliminator. Duarte has achieved 27 victories with 22 knockouts, while Sims Jr., ranked top by WBA, has won 21 fights with eight knockouts.

Additionally, Uzbek boxer Bektemir "Bek" Melikuziev will compete against undefeated Guatemalan Lester Martinez in a 12-round WBA Super-Middleweight World Title eliminator. Melikuziev holds a record of 14 victories with ten knockouts. Martinez boasts an unbeaten streak with 18 wins and 15 knockouts.
