Riyadh Season Announces Major Boxing Event In London This September

Advisor Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA), has announced a significant event for the "Riyadh Season." The second clash will take place outside Saudi Arabia, in London on September 21. This follows the first overseas clash announcement, set for Los Angeles on August 3.

The main event at Wembley Stadium in September will feature British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua against Daniel Dubois. Dubois recently achieved a technical knockout (TKO) victory over Filip Hrgovic during the "5vs5" Boxing Showdown in Riyadh. Advisor Al Al-Sheikh expressed excitement about this match, stating, "We are thrilled to bring together two of the best heavyweight fighters in the world in their hometown of London, specifically at Wembley Stadium, a historic venue for the sport of boxing."

In addition to the main event, there will be several other exciting bouts. British fighters Tyler Denny and Hamzah Sheeraz will face off, while Josh Kelly and Liam Smith will also compete. Another notable match includes British boxer Joshua Buatsi against Willy Hutchinson. Lastly, Mark Chamberlain will take on Josh Padley.

This event is part of the broader "Riyadh Season" initiative aimed at showcasing Saudi Arabia's commitment to global entertainment and sports. Advisor Al Al-Sheikh highlighted the importance of this event by saying, "We know it will be a historic clash, supported by great undercard fights, and we look forward to giving British fans and visitors to London the chance to experience a Riyadh Season event."

The first overseas clash in Los Angeles on August 3 features American Terence Crawford against Uzbek Madrimov. This match sets the stage for future international events under the "Riyadh Season" banner.

The London event offers a unique opportunity for British fans and visitors to experience a Riyadh Season spectacle just weeks before the official launch of the 2024 season in Riyadh in October.

These events mark significant milestones in promoting Saudi Arabia's vision for global entertainment and sports engagement.
