Riyadh Region Governor Prince Faisal Opens Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games With Global Participation

The sixth Islamic Solidarity Games commenced with a grand opening ceremony in Riyadh, attended by Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz. The event, held from November 7 to 21, involves 57 Islamic nations. Upon arrival, Prince Faisal was welcomed by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, the Minister of Sport and President of both the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association.

Prince Faisal officially inaugurated the games on behalf of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He expressed his hopes for success for all participants. "Under the gracious patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, I declare the official opening of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games 'ISG Riyadh 2025’," he stated.

Prince Abdulaziz highlighted the royal support for sports in his speech. "The royal patronage of this edition confirms the unremitting support being provided for the sports by the wise leadership and its constant keenness to deliver an exemplary edition of this Islamic event, which brings together athletes from more than 57 Islamic countries in the heart of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia — Riyadh — in a true embodiment of HRH the Crown Prince's great interest in sports and athletes across the Islamic world."

Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also spoke at the event. He expressed gratitude towards Saudi Arabia for its ongoing support in promoting joint Islamic initiatives. He acknowledged King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's leadership in fostering unity among Islamic nations through such events.

The games serve as a platform for athletes from various Islamic countries to compete and showcase their talents. This gathering not only promotes sportsmanship but also strengthens cultural ties among participating nations. The event reflects Saudi Arabia's dedication to enhancing sports within its borders while fostering international collaboration.
