Riyadh Municipality Initiates Training Program For ISOCARP World Planning Congress On Urban Development
The Riyadh Region Municipality, in collaboration with the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), has initiated a masterclass on artificial intelligence. This event is part of the preparations for the 61st ISOCARP World Planning Congress, scheduled to take place in Riyadh in December 2025. The program, running from November 29 to 30, aims to enhance the readiness of professionals involved in urban development discussions.
Experts will demonstrate how AI can be used to analyse spatial and urban data effectively. They will also highlight how digital technologies can aid decision-making processes and contribute to developing efficient and sustainable urban policies. The program is conducted in partnership with the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, a renowned institution in planning and architectural technologies.

The masterclass includes intensive practical training sessions designed to create innovative models that address rapid urban challenges. These sessions aim to support urban development efforts not only in Riyadh but also across other cities in Saudi Arabia. Participants will gain insights into AI applications ranging from analysis to design, focusing on issues like water scarcity, waste management, mobility enhancement, food security, and climate resilience.
Participants will learn about practical tools that do not require programming skills. These tools are intended to help them develop actionable solutions for building more efficient, intelligent, and sustainable cities. The program concludes by emphasizing the role of AI in urban planning and its potential impact on future city developments.
