Riyadh King Khalid Airport Terminal Transfers Completed, Transport Minister Confirms

Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and General Authority of Civil Aviation Board Chairman Saleh Al-Jasser reviewed the completed terminal transfer operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, confirming that airline redistribution across terminals is now in place ahead of the Ramadan travel peak.

During the visit, Saleh Al-Jasser checked passenger movement and the performance of airport facilities, assessing how the new terminal allocations support approved operational plans for the Ramadan and Umrah season and testing the readiness of systems that manage both domestic and international passenger flows.

Terminal Transfers Complete at Riyadh Airport

The terminal transfer process redistributed airlines and flights among passenger halls, which has improved mobility inside the airport, supported smoother connections, and strengthened Riyadh’s position as a logistics gateway under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, while also supporting future growth in both passenger and cargo volumes.

Saleh Al-Jasser explained that the project is designed to increase returns on airport assets by making better use of fixed resources, including check-in counters, baggage belts, boarding bridges, and passport control lanes, while also re-engineering passenger and baggage routes to expand overall capacity using existing ground infrastructure.

The minister stated that optimising terminal operations improves the airport’s competitiveness for passenger, cargo, and logistics traffic, supports the wider transport and logistics system in Riyadh, and helps prepare operational capacity for major international events expected to attract increased travel through the Saudi capital.

Saleh Al-Jasser also toured the check-in areas, where officials delivered a detailed explanation of workflows under the updated operating plan, and noted that the terminal work aligns with the recently announced start of construction on the third runway and associated projects under the King Salman International Airport master plan.
