Riyadh Reads: Emphasising Reading At The Riyadh International Book Fair 2024

The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission has introduced "Riyadh Reads" as the theme for the Riyadh International Book Fair (RIBF). Scheduled from September 26 to October 5 at King Saud University, the event will host prominent cultural, literary, and intellectual figures from Saudi Arabia and beyond. The motto underscores reading's role in enhancing life quality and expanding readers' intellectual horizons.

Images of individuals with books and the phrase "Riyadh Reads" capture the fair's essence, showcasing its cultural and literary focus. An awareness campaign aims to engage a wide audience, including adults, adolescents, children, readers, and publishers. Billboards in Riyadh and King Khalid International Airport display these images to draw public interest.

This year's fair will see participation from over 2,000 publishing houses and agencies worldwide. They will be spread across 800 pavilions representing more than 30 countries. This highlights RIBF's status as a leading book fair on both regional and global scales.

The new edition promises a rich cultural program featuring over 200 events catering to all ages. These include seminars, panel discussions, lectures, poetry evenings, and workshops led by esteemed writers and intellectuals from Saudi Arabia and other nations.

Various topics will be explored during these events. Additionally, the fair's outdoor area will host interactive shows alongside unique cultural, artistic, and theatrical performances by artists and theatre professionals.

The commission encourages the public to follow its social media accounts for updates on the fair's diverse cultural offerings. This ensures attendees remain informed about the latest developments related to RIBF.

The "Riyadh Reads" campaign not only promotes reading but also positions Riyadh as a city that values literature. By engaging different age groups through various platforms, it seeks to foster a culture of reading throughout the community.
