Riyadh International Book Fair 2023 Opens With Qatar As Guest Of Honour
The Riyadh International Book Fair commenced at King Saud University, running until October 5. Organised by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission under the theme "Riyadh Reads," it hosts over 2,000 publishing houses from more than 30 countries. The event spans over 800 pavilions, serving as a significant platform for cultural exchange among publishers, writers, and book enthusiasts globally.
Qatar is this year's guest of honour, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich cultural heritage and literary accomplishments. The Qatari pavilion features manuscripts and publications from the Ministry of Culture. Additionally, prominent Qatari cultural figures will engage in a vibrant program showcasing diverse arts and intellectual achievements.

Attendees can look forward to an extensive programme featuring over 200 events catering to all ages. These include seminars, panel discussions, lectures, poetry evenings, theatrical performances, and workshops covering various topics. A dedicated children's area offers cultural and entertainment activities tailored for younger visitors.
A special section highlights works by Saudi authors, providing platforms for book signings where the public can meet their favourite writers. This interaction allows attendees to obtain signed copies of the latest releases directly from the authors themselves.
The fair welcomes visitors daily for ten days from 11 am to midnight. On Fridays, it opens later at 2 pm but remains accessible until midnight. This schedule ensures ample opportunity for everyone to explore the diverse offerings throughout the event's duration.
The Riyadh International Book Fair stands as a vital meeting point for intellectuals and culture enthusiasts both within Saudi Arabia and internationally. It fosters an environment conducive to cultural dialogue and knowledge sharing among participants from various backgrounds.
