Riyadh's Infrastructure Developments Enhance Readiness For Expo 2030 And FIFA World Cup 2034

Riyadh is hosting the Global Infrastructure Forum and Exhibition from September 15 to 17. This event gathers over 300 exhibitors from 25 countries, including experts and specialists. It highlights Riyadh's efforts to develop an advanced urban system that meets growing demands and aligns with national ambitions. The forum serves as a strategic platform for exchanging expertise and showcasing the latest technologies in water, energy, transportation, communications, and smart cities.

The forum's opening day marked the launch of the Major Projects and Events Support Office in Riyadh. This office aims to coordinate megaprojects with service providers efficiently. Its goals include ensuring smooth workflows, avoiding conflicts, enhancing quality of life, and increasing spending efficiency. This initiative is a key pillar of sustainable urban development.

During the event, five strategic partnerships were signed between the Infrastructure Project Center and several national entities. These agreements focus on developing innovative solutions driven by data, accelerating the adoption of emerging technologies, and enhancing digital capabilities in project management. Such collaborations are crucial for advancing infrastructure development.

Specialized sessions at the forum addressed vital issues like sector alignment, innovative financing, and sustainable technologies. Participants stressed that major projects need robust infrastructure to support future growth effectively. The forum showcased significant progress in infrastructure development. Over 7,200 projects have been coordinated, involving more than 62,000 exhibitors. Service networks have expanded to over 800,000 kilometers. Additionally, 11.4 million smart meters have been operated or renewed. These figures demonstrate Riyadh's commitment to building a modern urban system.

Infrastructure project licenses have seen substantial growth, increasing from 71,000 in 2017 to 151,000 last year. The target is to reach 200,000 licenses by the end of 2025. This increase reflects Riyadh's dedication to supporting its ambitious infrastructure goals through streamlined licensing processes.
