Riyadh Hosts Regional Research Councils To Address Future Challenges In Scientific Advancement
Dr. Munir Eldesouki, President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), highlighted the crucial role of research councils in advancing science in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. His comments were made while leading a regional meeting of MENA research councils, which took place alongside the 13th annual Global Research Council meeting. This event was organised by KACST and the Research Development and Innovation Authority (RDIA) in collaboration with Türkiye's Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBİTAK).
During this gathering, Dr. Eldesouki reiterated that scientific research is fundamental to sustainable development. He pointed out that it helps create innovative solutions to societal challenges. He also confirmed KACST’s dedication to collaborating with both local and international partners to promote research cooperation and knowledge sharing, thereby boosting the region’s role in the global research landscape.

The heads of regional research councils reviewed an annual report from the secretariat during the meeting.
